Report illegal fishing online

Illegal fishing undermines conservation efforts that keep our waterways healthy and sustainable for all anglers. The Environment Agency’s ‘Report an environmental problem service on GOV.UK makes it easier to report these activities directly from your smartphone or any device.

You can now report fishing out of season, unlicensed fishing, illegal equipment use, and the catching or trapping of protected species. The service records precise locations using map functionality and will soon allow photo uploads.

When illegal fishing goes unchecked, it damages fish populations, disrupts breeding cycles, and threatens the sustainable fishing that legitimate anglers enjoy. Your reports help us identify problem areas, target enforcement efforts, and preserve healthy waterways for future generations whilst ensuring fair access to fishing opportunities for all licence holders.

Visit the below webpage or call the incident hotline on 0800 80 70 60 to take action when you see illegal activity.
